Sorry post is late.
Today we started to build flats. We started out making a flat chart so we woul know what we needed to build and confirmed that we were going to have a slanted roof in Gregors room.

Flats:

The small diagram shows which letter goes with which wall, (just a diagram not measured)

A = 2@4'
B = 1'6" , 2'6"(H), 2@4
F = 2' (H), 2'(F), 2@4', 2'
C = 2', 2'6"(H), 2@4', 3'6"
D = 2@3' , 2', 2@2' (H) ,2@2' (F)
E = 2@2' , 2@4' , 2@1' , Fireplace wall
G = 4@3'6", 2@5'(H)

H= header, F= footer

Amount of Each
4' = 10
3'6" = 5
3' = 2
2' = 5
1'6" = 1
1 = 2

Header
5' = 2
2'6 = 1
2' = 3

Footer
2' = 3

We began cutting wood for the back and were shown how to put them together.
  • Drill two holes on the ends of the long wood
  • Mark the length at 2ft, 4ft, 6ft
  • Then we get the five small lengths and screw them in as evenly as possible
  • Then attatch the other longer length to the other side.
  • Then we began the skin
  • Put PVA glue over the frame on one side and lay the MDF over it eevnly.
  • THen get a nail gun and follow the frame on the outside and the joining lengths.
I helped make the fireplace frame with drilling, marking and screwing together and then worked with Emma and Hannah to put the skins on the other frames with the nail gun. We did four frames today.

including myself there were nine people working on the flats today.
